Set the scene
- LightOverheads off. Candles or tree lights only, so the room glows instead of shines.
- MusicSomething slow and wordless, like acoustic guitar, soft jazz or a lo-fi Christmas mix. Low enough to whisper over.
- Sip & snackTwo mugs of something warm (spiked cocoa, mulled wine or hot cider) and a small plate of chocolate-dipped strawberries.
- WearSomething soft that slips off easily. A robe or a button-down shirt, nothing with complicated fastenings.
- PrepPile pillows and a throw on the bed, nudge the thermostat up a couple of degrees, and put both phones in another room. Keep a soft scarf nearby for later.
How the night unfolds
- Open the box together and raise a glass: “To twelve nights, and to us.”
- Sit facing each other and spend one quiet minute just looking at each other. It feels silly for ten seconds, then it doesn't.
- Decide who goes first. The receiver lies back, closes their eyes (or wears the scarf) and gets comfortable.
- Start far from the obvious: wrists, palms, the inside of the elbow. Move slowly enough that they can't guess where the feather goes next.
- Ask softly, “Here? Or here?” Let them answer with a word, or a sigh.
- Work along the collarbone, down the spine, behind the knees and across the lower back. Linger wherever they react.
- Trade places, and trade the scarf too.
- Turn up the heat: for the last round, let the feather wander anywhere it likes, and follow every stroke with your lips.
- By now neither of you will want to stop. Don't. Let the night end in each other's arms.
The star of the night
The Feather Tickler
This is foreplay in its purest form. The feather builds want slowly, until a single touch feels like everything. Save the most sensitive places for last, and take your time getting there. Use just the very tips, barely touching. The lightest pass is the most electric. Bring it out at the very start of the night, before anything else, so the whole evening begins with anticipation. Try long single strokes, then tiny slow circles, or follow the feather with a warm breath along the same line.
- DoGo slower than feels natural, then slower again.
- Don'tTickle for laughs (unless they love it). Tonight is about shivers, not giggles.
Make it yours
Spicier: the receiver keeps their hands above their head the whole time. Quicker: five minutes each before bed, no candles required.
Her signature piece
